Published on 03/10/2005
At the end of its campaign 'You've only got one life...So take care!', the Red Cross launched on April 7th a Good Practice Guide on Road Safety and First Aid for children. This guide, published by the Red Cross/European Union Office and written by the European Reference Centre on First Aid Education in
collaboration with 26 Red Cross National Societies, presents 36 practices that have obtained positive results in terms of Road Safety for children and that allow to teach them First Aid. The guide was thought out to encourage and facilitate the setting-up of activities and tools in various environments, it is available in 13 languages.
The guide launch took place during a press conference in Berlin in presence of personalities. The President of the German Red Cross took the opportunity to remind how useful it would be to include First Aid training into primary schools curricula.
The guide is the fruit of a 10 months campaign which allowed to raise awareness of 750 000 children aged between 7 and 10 years old about Road Safety and First Aid.
